3 ways to get more life out of your phone battery

8th September 2022
It’s a fact of modern life – our phones run out of charge, often when we're in the middle of something important, and sometimes much quicker than we thought they would. So, to help you avoid the stress, we’ve put together 3 ways to get a little bit more life out of your phone battery, whether you’re an Apple or Android user.
  1. Use low power mode

Both iPhones and Android devices have a low power mode (power saving mode on Android), a mode that temporarily reduces background activity until you can get some juice back into your phone.

Enabling Low Power Mode on iPhone

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Battery
  • Simply slide the toggle to the right to enable Low Power Mode

Enabling Power Saving Mode on Android

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Battery and device care
  • Select Battery
  • Scroll down to Power saving mode then swipe the toggle right

Note: The above instructions are for Samsung Galaxy devices, so if you have a different model, check your device handbook first. Also, remember that when you enable power saving mode on either device, you will temporally disable some of the functions on your phone, such as email updates etc.

  1. Lower the brightness

Lowering the brightness on your phone, not only helps preserve battery life, it’s also better for your eyes, particularly is you use your phone for prolonged periods. Below are instructions for lowering the brightness on both iPhone and Android.

How to lower brightness on an iPhone

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Display & Brightness
  • Slide the toggle to the left to lower the brightness

How to lower the brightness on an Android

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Display
  • Slide the brightness toggle left to lower the brightness
  1. Disable features you're not using

Even when we’re not using our phones, certain features continue to drain the battery. So, if your phones about to die, switch off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and even put it into Airplane mode until you find the magical charging point.

We hope this short article helped, and if it did, we'd love it if you gave it a share.
